Battle of the Books - Middle School

The Stokes County Schools Battle of the Books competition for middle school students was held on March 20, 2009 at Piney Grove Middle School. Teams from each of the county's middle schools participated.

In preparation for this competition, school team members began reading selected books from the "official" Battle of the Books reading list at the beginning of the school year. The contest involved each team, with the help of team members, being able to correctly identify the book and authur after being asked questions about the selected books by the Battle of the Books moderator.

Following 12 rounds of competition, the team from Chestnut Grove Middle School placed first and is now eligible to compete in the regional competition scheduled for March 27, 2009 at Randolph Community College. Southeastern Middle School placed second and Piney Grove team placed third. Lamp of Learning medals were presented to the winning team with second and third place teams receiving award ribbons.
