Student Support Services

All students deserve safe and supportive learning environments which are achieved when students' social, emotional, and academic needs are met. Meeting these needs requires schools to work with their communities to aid individuals in acquiring, applying, and integrating competency in social awareness, self-awareness, self-management, responsible decision-making, and relationship skills. Social-emotional learning promotes higher student achievement and healthier students, schools, and communities.

Specialized Instruction Support Personnel are employed at all nineteen schools in Stokes County. Our school counselors, school social workers, and school nurses provide physical and mental health support for students and families across the district. By working in concert with our school administrators, teachers, and support staff we help ensure a safe and supportive environment where each student can achieve and succeed.

Vision:

Stokes County Schools empowers all students to achieve and succeed academically, socially, and emotionally.  Students will acquire, apply, and integrate skills, attitudes, and behaviors necessary to establish and maintain positive views of self and respectful relationships with others.  Stokes County Schools’ educators will foster the development of these skills, attitudes, and behaviors through intentionally incorporating social-emotional learning into daily interactions and learning experiences in schools.
