It's a time to celebrate the unique talents and perspectives of people with autism, while also advocating for greater access to support and opportunities.

Every April, we honor the brave children of our military families during the Month of the Military Child 💜 These resilient kids make sacrifices and show incredible courage as they move, change schools, and adapt to their parents' deployments time and again in service to our nation.
This year's theme captures it perfectly: "Military Youth and Children: Brave, Fearless and Resilient." Despite all the challenges, these young heroes face adversity with strength, perseverance, and heart.

Conservation Educator of the Year
Ms. Jessica Edwards has been selected as the 2024 Stokes County Conservation Educator of the Year by the Soil & Water board.
She will be recognized at the Awards Banquet being held on May 23rd at YMCA Camp Hanes Dining Hall.
Marsha Dunn, teacher at South Stokes School has been nominated for Teacher of the Year through Reader's Digest America's Favorite Teacher competition.

Sandy Ridge Elementary will compete at the district competition!
The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services, in partnership with the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction, announced its intent to administer the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s new Summer Electronic Benefits Transfer (S-EBT) Program known as “SUN Bucks” beginning summer 2024.
Most eligible children will automatically qualify for the program, though some families will have to apply for the new SUN Bucks program. Children automatically qualify if they are eligible for any of the following programs:
Free and reduced-price meals at schools
Food and Nutrition Services
Temporary Assistance for Needy Families
OR if they receive NC Medicaid benefits and have a household income below 185% of the federal poverty level
Families who qualify for the SUN Bucks program will receive a one-time payment of $120 per eligible child for the summer period. SUN Bucks will be delivered to families on debit-like EBT cards for families to purchase groceries at retailers that accept EBT, including most major grocery stores in North Carolina.
