PTEC Signature Schools – Nancy Reynolds Elementary
The Board of Education congratulates Nancy Reynolds Elementary School on being chosen as the PTEC 2025 Signature School. They were recognized at the Signature Schools Award Breakfast on December 12, 2024 in the UNCG Cone Ballroom. Stokes County Schools will be on a 3 hour delay Tuesday Dec. 3rd, 2024.
Today, December 2nd, we recognize National Special Education Day, a time to honor the progress made in ensuring access to education for all children, regardless of ability.
This day marks the anniversary of the federal legislation that began opening doors for students with disabilities in public schools, culminating in the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA). IDEA has transformed education by guaranteeing the right to a free and appropriate public education for children with disabilities, fostering inclusion, and promoting equal opportunities.
Special education is not just about providing services—it’s about creating a culture of understanding, compassion, and equity. When we celebrate and support diverse abilities, we all grow stronger as a community.

9th-grade students at West Stokes High School in the Introductory Health Science course took an exciting step into the world of healthcare careers!
As part of their studies, they researched and explored a variety of health science professions—from doctors and nurses to medical researchers, physical therapists, and public health experts. Each student presented their findings to their peers and special community guests, showcasing the diversity and impact of these vital careers.
Whether they’re drawn to hands-on patient care, medical innovation, or supporting community health, these students are already dreaming big for their futures.
